Extra Challenging Knee Recovery
Kaitlyn Gelen X10 HH Patient Experience
One of my most memorable and challenging patients I have had the pleasure to assist through X10 Home Health was blind and spoke limited English.
Although he was extremely familiar with his home setup, after his right knee total knee replacement, he had to use a rolling walker which made maneuvering around his home much more difficult, making him a fall risk.
I was able to provide instructions and guidance to the patient and his family for him to be able to maneuver throughout his home safely and provide his family with instructions on how to properly assist the patient with his mobility.
Through additional exercises on and off the X10 Knee Machine, he was able to improve his balance and strength quickly to be able to walk without his walker in his home just 2 weeks after his surgery.

Another challenge with this patient was utilizing the X10 machine. Because he was unable to see the screen, he was unable to push the buttons, meaning he was dependent on his family to assist him with this as well.
Although he relied on assistance from his family initially, he was able to reach 0 degrees extension and 130 degrees flexion on the X10 at three weeks post-surgery and walk over 200ft with supervision and was able to be discharged from our home health services shortly afterwards.
Kaitlyn graduated from Baker College of Flint with her associates in Applied Sciences, Physical Therapist Assistant, and shortly after passed her board exams to become a Licensed PTA.
